I went to a party one night to do my usual networking. I loved meeting other like-minded business people because it brought about intelligent conversations about the companies we run and the ability to get to know and support one another. At this particular party, I met quite a few people who I had not met before. I met Ian Filippini halfway through the night, and he was someone I had heard about from time to time in business conversations. We hit it off immediately and had a nice discussion. I told him that I had gotten to the point where I would like to start doing some traveling, and he pointed out that he has a travel blog. It was his blog that got me interested in doing some exploring again.
I had been working so hard for the past 10 years, that traveling had fallen by the wayside. I just did not have the free time that I used to have. Even when I was really sick I had to get up and work from home because I could not take time off for anything. My time was taken up with needing to get my business growing, thriving and where I needed to be. I had done a good job of it, and it was time for me to take a couple of vacations before I ended up running myself into the ground.
I took a look at Ian’s blog, and found it to be full of some great info. There was a lot of info about some of the best places to go, and I wouldn’t even need to travel very far. I liked the idea of being able to get away, but still being close enough to home so that I could come back quickly if I needed to for any work emergencies. Based on some of the suggestions I read, I went to go see some of the things during my vacation that I knew would interest me the most.
